One of our most recent clients came to us with a forklift problem that is all too prevalent in the industry. They knew the number of accidents that occurred in their warehouse but wanted to understand the bigger picture. Their challenge was to identify unsafe practices and behaviors that didn’t necessarily result in accidents but were merely accidents waiting to happen. How Kibsi Works
Our client connected their existing video cameras to Kibsi, allowing the platform to monitor their warehouse in real-time using computer vision. A custom Kibsi App was created in about 10 minutes to detect and track forklifts, people, and other objects in the warehouse. The App was designed initially to capture statistics for analysis and education however, the longer-time goal is to send alerts when forklifts got too close to other equipment or people, enabling the company to identify potentially dangerous situations and react immediately.
Kibsi’s no-code platform and pre-built detectors made it easy for the client to build and deploy their video intelligence app. They could quickly define detection zones and track the movement of forklifts and people within those zones, gathering valuable data on near-miss events and other forklift safety concerns.
The Results
Even in our testing, the client was able to get a clear picture of how often unsafe practices occurred in their warehouse (spoiler alert: it was way more than they were expecting!). They could then use this data to create targeted safety training programs, enforce safety protocols, and make necessary adjustments to the warehouse layout to minimize risks.
